Comprehensive eye exam in Uyo
A full assessment of how well you see and how healthy your eyes are, ending with a written prescription and a clear care plan.
About 30 to 45 minutes
Adults due for a routine check, anyone noticing blurred vision or headaches, and patients renewing a glasses prescription.

What the examination covers
A comprehensive eye exam at Canon Eye Clinic is more than a quick read of a letter chart. Our optometrists work through a structured sequence so nothing important is missed, and we record everything electronically so your history travels with you between visits.
- History taking, including symptoms, medications and family eye history
- Visual acuity testing for distance and near vision
- Refraction to determine your exact lens prescription
- Intraocular pressure measurement where indicated
- Examination of the front of the eye and the retina
- A written prescription, diagnosis and follow-up plan
How to prepare
Bring your current glasses or contact lenses, any eye drops or medications you use, and your NHIS or HMO enrollee details if you have them. If you wear contact lenses daily, come with your glasses as well, since we may ask you to remove the lenses during the examination.
If drops are used to widen your pupils, your near vision can stay blurred and light-sensitive for a few hours. Arrange for someone to drive you home if that applies to you.
After your visit
You leave with a written prescription and a plan. If glasses or contact lenses are needed, our dispensary can fill the prescription on site. If your results point to a condition that needs specialist or surgical care, we explain the finding plainly and refer you on.
Common questions
How often should an adult have an eye exam?
Every two years for healthy adults under 40, and yearly from 40 upwards or if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of glaucoma.
Does the examination hurt?
No. Every part of a routine eye examination is painless. Some tests involve a puff of air or a bright light, which can feel odd but is not painful.
